How to Add Ribbons to Cake Decorations
I'm Karen for Expert Village. Now we'll roll out and cut our ribbons for the cake. You want to measure how long you are going to need it to go up the side of the cake, and across the top and down the side. So we've got four, ten, about fifteen sixteen inches there. And just roll that out again about an eight of an inch. And we're going to make sure we roll it out as long as we need it to go across the top and down the two sides. And we'll need it about two inches thick, because we're going to do a crisscross. I'm going to use my fancy ribbon cutting tool. Makes it a lot easier, but you can use a ruler and a knife to do your cutting. And a little bit of water. Just across the center and down the side. And then you carefully lift the piece that you cut without stretching it. Because when you stretch it makes it just a little bit thinner. Just lay that right along and I'm just cutting it at the bottom. You can use your flattening tool to help press that on. And if you've got any bit down there at the end thats not neat, you just take the knife and trim it. And we'll cut another one to go on the other side. Now you want to make sure that you take all of these scraps and wrap them up. You don't want to let them sit out too long because they will get dry. So you want to wrap them up and just throw them into some plastic so they don't dry up while you are working on other things. And again a little bit of water, just because that's our glue. And without stretching it, being very delicate, if it sticks to your board, you just run a knife along the bottom. But being very careful not to stretch it. We're going to use a very delicate touch. And just lay that, when you come to the bottom like this. Just take your knife and trim it off. And use your flattening tool and tamp it in place neatly.
