How to Decorate Cake Borders
Hi, I'm Karen for Expert Village. Now I'm going to roll out some fondant to make the edge of the box. And I'm going to use my fancy rolling tool to do the cutting. But you can use a knife and a ruler just as well. And you can do it in one long piece to wrap around the whole cake, or you can do it in short sections like we did the panels covering the cake. Just roll that out again about an eighth of an inch. Keeping the surface well covered with confectioners sugar so that it will slide and occasionally moving the fondant around to make sure that it's not sticking and then when you have it rolled down. I'm just going to use this fancy tool to make a pretty ridge to go around the box. And then you just take a little bit of water to glue that to the edge of the box. So just a tiny bit of water just touching it, I'm going to put it all the way around where our box edge is going to go. If it sticks to your board, its handy to have a spatula or a knife, just to release it like that. You just run it under there very carefully. And if its very soft you can let it sit and dry for a bit. But you want to make sure it doesn't stick. And you just want to be very delicate with picking it up. Don't stretch it, and just carefully pat it to your wet area, all the way around.
