Dealing with Duds: How to Make Your Own Ammunition

Hi! This is John. Let’s talk a little bit about what you need to do if some of the bullets you may get that might not meet your standards. Here we have a little, what is called a fan, on top of the bullet. What has happened here is that the mold has not closed entirely together like it should. It allows the molten lead to flow out between the little cracks where the mold is. This can be remedied by just taking and picking this off with your finger. Here is another one. This one is undersized and deformed. This bullet needs to be saved and kept for the next casting session. Since it went into the bucket of water, do not put this back into the pot because it has water and moisture on there that can cause some danger. Save this for your next casting session.
