How to Change the Bits on a Plunge Router

Hi! I'm Ed Reyes with Master Builders here in Tampa, Florida and I am here for Expert Village. I am going to show you how to use the proper use of a plunge router. Now to change a bit on this router, is very simple. They supply us with a small little lever here. It is a black lever that pushes in and out. Inside the center of this spindle here, there is a nut and that little spindle will lock that nut in, now we are locked. This thing will not turn. So you simply take a wrench that is supplied with this tool and it slides in through here, you counter clockwise it until it loosens up, you pull this bit out and then you replace a new bit, push this back in, tighten it back on counter clockwise and make sure that bit does not move. It is very important that you tighten it very very tight. It can be very dangerous if this is not tightened correctly because this bit could fly out at a very high speed and cause damage. So the utmost importance in safety would be to make sure that this piece is tightened very well when replacing the bit.
