Now we have gone over all the basics of competition backgammon play, but I would like to talk a little bit about another game called Acey Ducey. A lot of people play this game and they play for money and they play for tournaments and points. It was kind of started in the military with the navy and the marines that is where it got really, really popular. Now when you are playing an Acey Ducey the strategies are a little different because all of your stones start off the board. You are then going to work those around and build your blocks and prevent your blocks as you go creating a blockade that blocks your opponent. This can turn into a power struggle that can be pretty decisive. One of the challenges to this whole thing and that really does change it up is the roll of one and two. When you roll Acey Ducey a one and a two, you will be able to move the one and the two. If you are able to move both of those spaces then you will get to pick a double. You pick any number between 1 and 6 and you get that doubled. Then you are able to move those four doubles anywhere on the board. If you cannot move all four of those doubles but you want to use them anyway, you are able to use as many of them as you can and then your turn is over. If you are able to use all four doubles, you then roll again and if you get another Acey Ducey, it starts all over again. Now by using this method you can sometimes get your stones off way before your opponent and build up a quick set of points. Now if you play in a match tournament, those points you are building up will be a predetermined number or if you are playing for dollar value, each one of those points means a little bit of money in your pocket. Normally you are going to roll just another set of numbers and then you are going to move those whether that is doubles or just an odd set. You will have another set to move and I think you can see how this can completely change the strategy of your game no matter how good you put up your blocks and prevented you blocks. Now when you are playing Acey Ducey the object of the game is to get the most points. So if you are able to bear off your tiles or stones before your opponent whatever stones they have left do count against them and count for you as points. Those can be for money or those can just be match points for competition. However many games you want to play, how many ever points you want to play to, determines the winner of your game.
