How to Service a Scroll Saw Motor

Hi, I'm Ed Reyes with Master Builders here in Tampa, Florida on behalf of Expert Village to teach you the proper use of a electric scroll saw. Now like in all electric machines, motor is the core so you really need to take care of that. On a monthly basis, I always lubricate the motor and check the bearings and make sure that everything is working proper. With this machine, there is a center screw here in the middle. All you do is unscrew this screw with a screwdriver. This cap pulls off and you have bushings in here and you need to oil it. We use 3in1 oil and to oil it properly, we always come in with a blower and blow everything out of there. Because like I said, it does accumulate dust in through these seams here. So what you want to do is pull this cap off with that screw off, blow it off real good with a blower, make sure it is clean, try not to touch the bushings and the rubber grommets you want to get oil on that to keep it moist. You want to squirt oil on the engine, around the motor area, install it back on, put the screw on. It is pretty basic, pretty simple but it is really important. Because if you don't, eventually that motor and bushings will burn out on you and you will smell them. The best thing to do is proper maintenance, preventive maintenance. So once a month, take that screw out, pull this cap off, clean it properly there, lubricate it properly, put the cap back on. That is fairly simple. One screw and one cap.
