Body Posture in Tap Dancing

Depending on what tap style you will be participating in there are different types of body posture, but the classic style generally has your arms out with a relaxed kind of flow, like a waterfall down your arms. Make sure you are always balanced and always make sure you will never have your balance on any one leg or the other. You don’t have any particular leg that favors the other. You are ready to pick up your leg and do whatever you need to do at any anytime. Always keep your chest up, your face forward and your arms in a balanced position. If you are doing something like a rhythm tap where as you get more advanced sometimes you are just going to be a little bit more free. However in a classical tap when you are first learning it is best to keep your posture straight and your arms as graceful as possible.
