Picture Framing Tips

My name is Amitavh Bhattacherji, I'm speaking on behalf of Expert Village and I represent the company Abstract Frames and Supplies Private Limited, Calcutta, India. We are export framers of picture frames. Today I'm going to tell you a few tips on picture framing. In the last episode I had explained how the frame is cut and joined and finished. And the frame is completed. Now, I had purposely picked up a frame from my workshop where you will see that this corner is not correct, whereas this corner is correct. This is a very important issue when planting the frame for final stapling. The corners should match so that the inside corner also matches and the outside corner also matches. Like this corner, this has perfectly matched on the inside and on the outside. If this does not happen, it will be very difficult to redo this frame and this piece will be wasted. And, this piece can only be used, then, for the shorter side by cutting again. During picture framing, it is important to cut the longer side first and the shorter side next, because, in case you have made an error of judgment in the length of the picture, you can at least use the longer side to make the shorter side. The second important thing in a picture frame is, while cutting the edges, if the underneath of the frame is not cleaned, then this will result that one angle will be longer than the other angle. It is very important, while cutting; to see that the underside of the frame is cleaned and nothing is sticking to it and it is not raised in any way. Otherwise, if it is not laying flat on the table, the two corners will not be equal and the result will be that one corner will be longer than the other. In which case, it's not very neat, as you may see that this is sticking out. Then you may have to sandpaper and bring the wedges again. While sandpapering you will suddenly damage the color of the frame, so it's very important that you ensure that the frame is level, clean below while cutting, and there is nothing below to disturb the corners from being equal. Because, this being parallel, it is imperative that the corners will be equal. Unless the frame is somehow raised or tilted while cutting, this will result, in which case, you will have to either sandpaper this end, match the edge, or you will have to reject this part of the frame and redo your frame. Thank you.
