How to Cut Matting

My name is Amitavh Bhattacherji. I'm speaking on behalf of Expert Village. And I represent my company Abstract Frames and Supplies, Private, Limited; Calcutta, India. How do we cut the mat? We measure the picture. Let us say this picture is twelve inches by eight inches. And we need a small border, hidden border, inside which is one centimeter. So we will add the length of this and one centimeter and initially draw a line on the mat with a scale. As you have seen the mount cutting machine; it has a scale to help you draw straight lines. And once we have drawn the lines the mount cutter blades go exactly along the line and cuts as much as you want. This little portion could have been this big. So that measurement you will have to take the measurement of the picture, add exactly how much of border you want to see, draw your line and then use the machine to cut along that line. And this lip, this will fall in from the inside of the border. That is again the outside board. We measure how much of width of the border we want. We again draw a line along on the board using the scale with the mat cutter and we cut the outside sides out first. Then we measure the picture and add this and see what the inside window should be. And again, we draw our lines and we cut. Once we learn how to measure this side wall border we require, it's just basically adding the lengths, width and length and drawing my lines initially with the scale. Then the mount cutting machine can run along those lines and cut out this. Once it is cut out, we first fix the smaller piece and side piece to the larger piece with the tape. Then we hinge the picture to the larger piece and our mat is ready. Thank you.
