Equipment for Making Baked Chicken

Hi, my name is Brandon Sarkis on behalf of Expert Village. Today I'm going to show you how to make a really great, really simple chicken recipe. It's baked chicken with pearl onions, bacon and mushrooms. We'll take a second to go over everything you're going to need to make today's recipe as far as equipment. First thing is first, you're going to need a good knife something nice and sharp that you'll be cutting through chicken. If your knife isn't that sharp, I recommend getting a clever or something like that. Something that you can hack through the chicken bones cause that is what you'll be doing or a nice sharp knife will do just fine. Also I have tongs. These are actually silicon tongs so that it won't melt and it won't really dig into the food. I like these a lot they're really nice and they also match my red spatula which you're going to need too. A nice high heat spatula something that is six hundred degrees or five hundred degrees or so. I highly recommend one of these. You'll use it every time you cook probably just at least I do. I can't swear by it enough so tongs, spatula, next thing is our pan this is something else I highly highly recommend. I wouldn't know what to do without. It's a straight sided saute pan like a sauce pan. The event is to these first of all that they are nice and big, it's a saute pan. But also you have the luxury of putting a lid on it and throwing it in the oven and sauces in it. You have to have just one pan in you kitchen; this is the one I would always go back to. You can make soup in here, sauce in here, braise stuff, roast and saute stuff, you can make grill cheese sandwiches it doesn't really matter. These are really really great so you are going to want a lid though cause we are going to throw this in the oven for a while. Something that is heat resistant, something with no rubber handles or anything like that so with that being said we can't also forget our towels. Towels are very important and I forgot to mention earlier but a nice good cutting board also it does not hurt, I would actually recommend something in the wood bamboo, oak something like that. This is actually a composite. You'll see these popping up more and more lately. It's basically wooden plastic or wood and some sort of really soft plastic. This is something new that I'm trying. Usually I would use straight wood I don't like using just plain plastic though. One is cause they are ugly, two because bacteria just sticks to them. This one is supposedly does not so this also has a nice trough on the edge, you can see right here for catching juices. Other than that, I wouldn't recommend marble or acrylic or anything like that for your cutting board. Those are terrible for your knifes. Whenever you are looking at a cutting board, you want to go with something softer rather than something hard. That is why bamboo is really popular and with that being said let's start cooking.
