All About Euchre Strategy

Here's a hand in which you decided to go a little light, and you picked up the Jack of Hearts as an up card and you feel ok, you might be able to walk your Ace of diamonds through, you might be able to get a cut in the clubs suit. So, low and behold, they lead a diamond and it happens to come through, and you take the Ace of diamonds. Now, you lead the right, and a trump comes out, a trump comes out, and a trump comes out. Ok. Let's say all three come out. You don't know where the left is. Now you're left with a little bit of a decision here. Do you go automatically going after the next card? I wouldn't. I would try, you have certainly a losing spade here. Why not try to see if you can have your partner help you out? Why go taking his last trump out of him? Lead the spade. You're going to lose that spade, unless your partner has the Ace. You have a much better chance in finding out where the chance of trumping it. Either your partner has the Ace or maybe he has a heart. Now, he might not have a spade and he might not have a heart, but at least you're trying to catch him with one or the other, and he gives you a trump and you certainly have fulfilled your bid. And you may even be rewarded if the left happens to be in the kitty, or maybe one of these will go through for you. But chances are, he'll lead this, you'll get somebody to go up, you'll trump it, and your diamond will go through. You do need a little bit of luck, but you certainly need to make three tricks. And if you make three tricks, why not go for all of them? I mean, that's the way I see it.
