Luck Vs. Skill While Playing Spades

Here we got with one of my favorite topics, luck verses skill. Well, I used to tell people I would rather be lucky than good. Well, I don't know, I mean, if I am in a game where it is really close on the computer or the luck of the deal, the dealer serves me up six or seven big top spades and a couple of off suit Aces and my partner has a nice cold nil, and we roll out one hundred and seventy points. And it did happen to me, by the way, at a live tournament. And I remember the pair that it happened to just feeling really good about it and bragging about how they beat me. And I say, whoopie do, I lose my share of games just as much as I win my share. But the point is that the thing about luck that you can't count on is consistency. You can't always count on lucky hands. And I am thoroughly convince that the good payer, the good partnerships, the good player that takes the time to own their craft, own their skill and go to a tournament with tremendous playing ability, an ability to set hands, ability to cover nils, ability to set nils, ability to work together with a partner. And, and, be a nice congenial person. Don't brag about it. Don't gloat about it. And don't whine like a wounded fawn if they lose a game. I think that?s basically the bottom line. Skill will always overcome luck because you can count on skill. You can't count on luck.
