We now come to tracking specific cards. Nothing is more bone rattling, nothing is more nerve jangling, than to have your partner trump your good king, or to trump your good queen, or to trump your good ten, or not know what is going on. So, it's easy to remember aces. I mean, aces are a pretty distinctive cards. So when you know the ace has been played. Well, you can play your king of that suit, and when you know the ace and king have been played, well then you can play the queen of that suit, in relative safety. Again, disregarding bagging situations and scoring considerations. So make an effort to count, not count, to track cards that have been played. Is that deuce still good? Is that nine still good, and so forth? So once learn the art of counting; now you can take the trump suit. Now this is going to take a little effort, and I'm not being patronizing or anything. I'm trying to make you a better spades player. So that when you trot out to a grab.com tournament on the computer you can impress your friends, how you can count. When you trot out to a Grand Prix live tournament and Joe Andrews happens to be playing at the table, well I actually wouldn't be, but great players happen to be playing at the table and you make great plays, because you can remember what cards have been played. They're going to say wow, he's counting. And so you get that, people will get the impression; people will know that you are a card counter. It doesn't have anything to do with blackjack. It just means that you can track which cards are good. You can remember that a nine was good, that an eight was good, and that that six of spades was good. So this will really help to improve your game, improve your defense and if anything impresses your partner, because they'll know that you're tracking and not cutting their winners, or trumping their winners.
