Baseballs: How to Collect Game Balls

Here's another great little story about collectibles that I just love. I have a customer who's dad used to work for the Dodgers organization, and he saved him all these great Dodgers collectibles. And this is, a Dodgers baseball when they went to L.A., and this is you know, after the Dodgers Brooklyn, my moms Brooklyn Dodgers, but anyway this is the L.A. Dodgers and these, as you can see close that these are original signatures, their different ink colors, original signatures , some of the signatures on this ball are phenomenal, Duke Schneider, Don Drysdale, Sandy Koufax, and actually we had this ball graded professionally by p.s.a. , um, and what?s really fascinating about this is it's cost. It's significant. I think it was one hundred dollars to have this ball graded. The value of this ball is probably, my guess is four, five hundred dollars, and we find out who all the signatures are. They legitimize it by taking a look at the level of fading, they look at things like the pressure of the pen to see if it's consistence see if their all done at the same time, very very specific they give you a written analysis and another thing they do, is put a drop of DNA, some type of florescent DNA or something under a light to test the legitimacy that this has been graded so somebody can't fake it, put one of these counterfeit balls in a box. They take this very seriously and this is, this is just like a, commodity just like you'd buy gold or silver and it's valued based on lagitsmy, legitimacy and the p.s.a DNA designation, so this isn't valued on condition. This is just valued on authenticity. This would be a ball and I forget how many signatures, but you pay to have it graded according to how many signatures there are. And this one, Duke Schneider, it's just so cool. Do you remember Duke Schneider and Sandie Cofax. This has got the most incredible, incredible balls. And this would be an official ball from the national league, it's a great piece and they put it in this beautiful box so if you have a ball and it's really an original, have it graded if it's in beautiful condition, because this is, this is really a beautiful piece.
