How to Ride a Ski Lift When Snowboarding

Hi my name is Matt Vansteenis and on behalf of Expert Village, we are going to learn how to snowboard today at Cannonsburg Ski Resort in beautiful Grand Rapids, Michigan. In this segment we are going to talk about how to properly get on and off the chair lift. So after you have already gotten your riding down, you can step it up to this guy. So you are going to stand in line, probably for awhile. You are going to kind of push through, make sure you skate through the line, so you want to keep one foot out, and when the chair lift comes around, you just kind of wait when they tell you to wait. You wait for the chair to come to you; do not go to the chair. When it comes to you, just sit down. Keep your board going the way that you want it to go in the snow, toe to the ground, and sit back and enjoy the ride to the top. Now, when you get off of it, just like when you get off of the T-bar or the rope tow. Just kind of point your front nose, or point your nose, keep your back foot on your board in front of your back binding and just coast down through. And when you get to the end to stop, just stop. So when you get on the chair lift, you have got to make sure for snowboarders, that you take your one foot out, it can either be your back foot or your front foot, whatever you want, whatever is more comfortable. I always do my back foot, so my right foot. You always have got to keep it out until you get to the top, so you can strap it in at the top. Because if you just have everybody strapped in, it just looks like a clown show, everyone just smashes into each other, so make sure that you keep one foot out, and just wait for the chair to come to you. Sit down and go back up to the top.
