How to Make Base Outside Cuts With a Miter Saw
Hi! This is Bobby Hester on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this clip, we are going to demonstrate how to cut base moulding on an outside corner. By outside corner, I mean that you have a wall right here and this is the outside corner that you are going to cut. This would be an inside corner like that, so what we need to do is we have got a 90 degree corner, so we want to miter 45 degrees and 45 degrees on either side and that allow us to get a perfect fit around that corner. This particular base is a four and a half inch base. If your base is small enough, you can adjust the miter on your saw and cut your 45 that way, this base is a little bit too small, this is a 10 inch saw and it is a little bit too small for the blade to cut all the way through. So I have to adjust the bevel to 45 degrees and cut my first one and when you are cutting a bevel, it is very important to keep that saw down until the blade stops, otherwise if I would have pulled it up, this piece will be caught and really cause some damage. So there is my first piece on a 45 and my next piece is going to be one of the opposite way, so all I have to do is cut it this way, turn the material around the opposite direction. Alright and there we have it. We have cut our two 45 degree angles and those two create a 90 degree outside corner.
