How to Make Base Inline Joint Cuts With a Miter Saw
This is Bobby Hester on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this clip, we will to be demonstrating how to cut, how to make an inline cut. This can apply to base or any other application. We have two boards that you need to mate together at the ends. With modern miter saws, they allow you to get really accurate, square cut, so the two butt together and just about disappear. And that would be almost perfect right there except for the fact that wood normally shrinks overtime as it starts to dry out and what will happen is, it will start to give a gap as that grows overtime and that is something we want to avoid. What we can do is we can cut a miter, so once again we set this saw to 45 degrees, okay and there we have it, now their angles going in the same direction and they match up very nicely. This allows me so that as the wood starts to separate, there is not a gap in between because we cut it at an angle, so the cock can hold there and it is easy to repair.
