Home Theater Home Lighting Tips

My name is Brent Shelly with Expert Village and we are talking about lighting design today. Last but not least, I want to talk about the home theater. Not all of us are lucky enough to have a theater in our home but if you are, there are some definite visual task that you need to consider. One and foremost is movie watching. You never want to be in a completely dark room when watching a movie because it is a really hard strain on your eyes. So always have some wall sconces or some step lights or some co-lighting at a very low level while you are watching TV. Another typical visual task in a theater is entertaining. A lot of times these theater spaces are very plush with a wet bar, lots of comfortable seating. It is a great place to hang out with family and friends. You want to be able to use the layered lighting approach like we talked about earlier and have some accent lighting in the room, some general lighting, some decorative lighting. Remember to use good controls and control each of these layers separately so that you can change the look and the aesthetic look of the space based on function. Well, that's about it for today. We've talked about lighting design and lighting designers. I'm Brent Shelly for Expert Village. If you have any questions or need further information, please check my website at ilightstudio.com.
