My name is Brent Shelly with Expert Village and we are talking about lighting designs today. Lighting controls are also an important part of being able to create that mood in that drama. Lighting controls allows you to dim the lights at different levels based on the layers that we talked about earlier. There are a different types of lighting controls from a single gain wall box control which is kind of like a switch on a wall that has a dimmer for a particular light. There is also computer control systems which control your whole house. When placing lighting controls, you typically need to place them about 49 to 54 inches above the finished floor. That way people of varying heights can get to the switch easily. Also if they need to read the switch, they know what controls will be able to read it. When placing the controls in the space, you also want to be careful not to put them into a middle of a wall where you may want to put artwork or piece of furniture. Try not to put them behind the door where they are hard to get to. It should be easily accessible from each of the entry areas.
