Analyzing Lighting Needs for Home Lighting

My name is Brent Shelly with Expert Village and we are talking about lighting design today. What we are doing is creating magic and to do is just kind of memorable. T stands for task; what are the visual tasks in the spacing that you need the light for? Lighting in the space; this is soft diffuse lighting that lights the whole space. Recess down lights are good for that, table lamps create that ambient lighting level. The next layer would be a decorative layer such as chandeliers or wall sconces that add sparkle to the space. Now obviously you are not going to put a chandelier in your kitchen. So you have to use good judgment in a living room, foyer or family room like that. Decorative fixtures are great. There are some rules of thumb, there is also some flexibility. Not every space is going to have these layers.
