Removing Wheels for Differential Leak Repair

Hi, I'm Doug. I work with 20 great guys in St Louis at Doug Jenkins Custom Hot Rods and we're going to do some work for you today on Expert Village. The first step in removing the gear carrier from the axle housing on a Ford 9 inch style rear end is to remove the axles. They're held into the axle housing. So here Dan is using an impact wrench to pull the rear wheels off both sides in order to gain access to the axles. He's got it at a nice easy height to lift from. He doesn't have it too high, too low. All of us has been at this a long time so he's real thoughtful about that. So he's got the wheels off both sides of the vehicle. He's keeping his work area clean. You know moving carefully here. It's not worth hurrying or getting hurt. Got to pull the break drums off both sides in order to get to the break backing plate.
