How to Thin a Horse Mane

Hi, I'm Kelli for Expert Village I'm going to show you some tips and techniques that I use to band my horses mane. Another thing that you would want to look into for our preparing to band your horses mane. Is the thickness of your horses mane. If your horses mane is a really really thick you may want to thin it out a little bit before you prepare to band your horse. So pulling the mane is one that that you could do, horses don't have any feeling in the crest of the neck there. So you can really pull quiet hard it. So when you are pulling mane want to do is take your little pulling comb, you are going to teas the mane upward. So you get a small section wrap it around and you can ripe it out that way. So that just cause the hair to be a little bit thiner so it is a little bit more manageable. They also make a product that is called a quick trim and basically what that is it is kind of like a knife that you can go in underneath and it just kind of thins out the mane a little bit. Another thing that you can use is thinning shears as well just like you do for regular human hair you can use thinning shears on them as well. That just make the mane a little bit more manageable and a little bit more easier to work with.
