Tracey, In your demonstration the injured had to move her arm way too much. Also, before placing the sling, a not can be tied at the point of the triangle to "cradle" the elbow. Thus, eliminating the need for a dangerous, sharp pin. When someone has potentially or obviously broken their arm, the last thing they want to do is move it all around just to get the make-shift sling on. They will not be happy and full of smiles like your assistant. Remember, the better prepared your materials/equipment are, the better aid you will be able to provide.
