How to Remove an Oil Filter

Hi, I'm Doug, I work with 20 great guys in St. Louis at Doug Jenkins Custom Hot Rods and we're going to do some work for you today on Expert Village. Now this part is awful. Now he's taking off the oil filter, he's got kind of a generic oil filter loosening tool and there's no way to avoid getting it all over you here. You can wear latex gloves if you don't feel like trying to get motor oil out of your hands. So he loosens it up a little bit and lets it drain. And still even after you let it drain, the oil filter is still completely full of oil. So as you take it off the car, it's going to spill oil out, so make sure you still have your drain pan here as you're doing that. If you're just trying to do this in your driveway, you can use any number of things to improvise as an oil catch can. My favorite is cutting up antifreeze jugs. I lay it on its side and cut a hole on the side, you can catch about 4 quarts in that.
