Using a Prescription Toothpaste: Dental Care & Oral Hygiene

Hi my name is Carol and I'm a register dental hygienist and I'm speaking on behalf of expertvillage.com and in this clip we'll be talking about choosing a prescription toothpaste. Your dental professional may decide that you need to be on a higher concentration of fluoride do to whether you have recession of the gums, if you are more prone to getting cavities or if you have sensitive teeth. One of the products out here is this one right here and you could get a prescription for this from your dental care professional and you use it exactly like you use your other toothpaste except you replace your other toothpaste with this one. You use it two times a day with your regular brushing for the full two minutes. The extra fluoride in this one is what makes it so good in helping prevent against cavities, help preventing against sensitivity and helps strengthening the tooth all together. Another paste that is out there is this one. There's different types this one isn't toothpaste it is just the fluoride. So you have to make sure whenever you using this one to use a regular toothpaste first and brush for the full two minutes and then go through for one full minute afterwards with the regular fluoride and it does the same thing as the other toothpaste except that you are just brushing again for the second time. It strengthens the teeth, it helps protects its cold sensitivity and protects against cavities. These are just some of the samples that your health care professional may recommend for you for these issues.
