Let's play our E flat major scale again. 1st degree E flat. (playing violin) Now let's talk about our 2nd degree of the scale which is F natural it is played with the 2nd finger on the D string. 1 up right from your 1st degree which is E flat. Here is your F natural, your 2nd degree of the scale from E flat to F is a whole step.
