Violin Scales in Eb (Flat) Major: Open Strings

First let's talk about the open strings on the violin. We have G our lowest sounding string on the violin we have D one of the middle strings on the violin. We have A another one of the middle strings in the violin and we have E the highest string on the violin. Let's play them. Here is G. G is your furtherest string to the left. Here is D. D is the next string over. A, and last but not least we have our E string the furtherest string to the right. Now between all these strings you would have fingerings. Those are the notes that make up any piece you can possibly play.
