What to Expect With Sports Related Massage Therapy

This is Tanya for Expert Village from Intuition Salon and Spa. The next type of massage that we will be going over is sports massage. This is the other one of the not relaxing massages. This is pretty much just to get the blood flowing back to your body and back into your muscles; the blood will bring you trans oxygen to your muscles and that way they can repair themselves, whether it is after a marathon or if you are training for something there is pre-event and there is post-event massage. If you are getting ready to do a marathon someone will massage you in a fast vigorous manner and that way the blood gets to the muscles. So you want to make sure that the blood is being pushed into the muscles this way and so it is a fast vigorous massage; this will not be a long massage. When you do a sports massage its not a long massage; it is very quick; just to make sure each of your muscle groups get adequately engorged with the blood. The next type of massage is post-event massage; now that is another one where it is not a relaxing kind of massage. This is to help allow the body to get rid of the toxins that have built up while you are doing your event. It pushes the toxins out. It improves lymphatic flow; and that’s another reason why you want to make sure that you are drinking water, so that way your body can get rid of the stuff that it builds up while you are getting your massage. So a lot of the post-event massage is lymphatic drainage. It is just pushing all the stuff out of your body and it is allowing your body to relax. So it is not going to be a relaxing massage but allows your muscles to relax and that is what is massage.
