How to Communicate With Your Massage Therapist

Hi! This is Tanya for Expert Village from Intuition Salon and Spa. The next thing that we are talking about today is what to expect from your massage and what it is that you want to get from your massage therapist. If you want just a relaxed massage, let your massage therapist know that. So that way they do not dig into your shoulders or dig into your back. If you just want something that will release some stress, just ask for that. Also if you want something deeper, if your shoulder hurts, let your massage therapist know and be specific about it. If your shoulder hurts when you lift your arm let them know what part of your shoulder hurts. Is it your arm or is it your back or is it your front. Let them know this or they do not know what parts to work on. Also let us say your shoulder does hurt when you do this. There is some muscles back here that your massage therapist will be able to work on to help, up here. So just know that just because you are asking for maybe a specific part of your back, it does not mean that massage therapist will only zero in on those parts of your back, that they will work on other parts to make sure they stress that. Remember your whole body works together and that all muscles are long and you have got to work on everything to loosen somethings up sometimes. Also if you want something really deep like if you have got something specific in your back notice that what parts of your body hurt when you do what. When you sit down what parts of you are sore. So that you can tell your massage therapist and they will be able to treat you properly. This way you can make sure you get exactly what you want out of your massage. It is completely okay for you to tell your massage therapist before and during your massage what it is that you want. If they are going a little too deep let them know. If they can go a little bit deeper you can also let them know and they may just be warming up your body in the very beginning. At the beginning if they are going too soft, you give them a few minutes, sometimes they just need to loosen up your muscles before they really dig in. So that way you get everything that you want.
