How to Play the IV Chord in E Flat Blues Music

The next chord that is used in the blues progression is the A flat chord. This is also that four chord because A flat is the fourth note of E flat scale. Let's look at the notes. We have A flat, C, E flat, and G flat. The G flat is the seventh and five and then the three. G flat being the minor seven. Let's look at, I'm now going to play the A flat dominant arpeggio and then I will play the scale that goes with the A flat dominant arpeggio, the A flat dominant scale. This is different from the major scale because it has the G flat which is the flat instead of the major seven. Here is the arpeggio of the chord. And now we have, now I'm going to play the A flat dominant scale. These are the notes that are available to use off of the A flat dominant.
