How to Solo on the Flute in C Major: Part 1

Now we have gone over a common head and the changes. The next big step in playing the Blues and in Jazz in general, is improvisation. Improvisation is also referred to as soloing. This is when you use the notes from the chords and the scales available in the key of the Blues and make up something on your own that relates to the theme or the head. It doesn't have to, but this is often the case. This is the fun part in Jazz where you can play through it. Lets look at the notes we have available for soloing. These are all the tones that are used from the chords that go along with the scales. So put these in place with these chord changes above we can create a solo. I will now play an example of a solo.
