Mountain Pose in Beginner Yoga

Our next posture is mountain pose. Mountain pose is the starting pose for your practice. Standing with your feet hip width apart, line up the outer edges of your feet with the outer edges of the mat, lift your toes and then spread your toes and then set them back down on the mat. Roll the shoulders open so the shoulder blades come behind your ribs and slide down the back of your rib cage. Relax your arms and then gently, tucking the tailbone so that the tailbone is pointing toward the floor and tuck the chin and then release it. From the side, mountain pose looks like a very nice balanced standing posture. This posture is very helpful to correct problems with posture, it’s very helpful to build the abdominal muscles and to build the strength in the legs.
