Playing 2 & of 3 & of 4 Swing Beats on Bass Drums

PETR VAN DYK: Let's take a look at playing the bass drum on beat two as well as the end of 3 as well as the end of 4 over the ride cymbal pattern of swing. 1, 2, 3, 4. Okay, let's break this down. Let's take a look at the ride cymbal and the bass drum and where they line up and where they don't. On beat 2, they will line up. On the end of 3, the second stroke of the bass drum, the bass drum playing alone. And on the end of 4, both the ride cymbal and the bass drum will hit simultaneously. Let's slow that down and take a closer look. 1, 2, 3, 4.
