Taekwondo Competition Scoring

Hi! I’m Calab Labarda with Tae Kwon Do Limited and on behalf of expertvillage.com. Check in our website at tkdarizona.com. Today, we may be talking about competition scoring. So first of all we just saw all the kids were competing with scoring we just started with black belts somewhere at 9.0 to about 10.0. 9.0 being bad and 10.0 being perfect. With lower belts we just start about 7.0 and then intermediate belts we go from 8.0 and advanced belts we do all 9.0. So basically, we look at good stances, power, quality of the form, how good it was, how long it was, how exciting it is. Some judges look at different things, they might like to look at flashy stuff like good stances, good power, lowness, but all the judges are different, they have a certain area that they like to look for. So basically, they have a score card and they will write, watch them and how goes the first, they’ll go up and then they will have a seat. So the first they won’t get the score until after the first three have gone up and then they call them up again and that is actually how it goes and after that then they have each person come up and they will say judge’s call and they will give them the score, they will say judge’s score and hold it up and will say and then they will read on them as 9.0 and 9.8. So I give him 9.8 and so that is how judging works.
