Here, we're going to be playing the bass drum on beats one, two, three, as well as the and of three, and the and of four, over the swing ride pattern. It's a whole lot of bass drum. Check it out. One, two, three, four. Okay, there's a lot going on here. So we're going to break it down limb by limb. Let's take a look at the feet. The only time the bass drum is going to line up with the high hat is on beat two. One, two, three, four. One, two, three, four. One, two, three, four. And when the high hat clicks on beat four, the bass drum is instead going to play around it on the and of three and the and of four. One, two, three. One, two, three, four. One, two, three, four. Okay, once we feel good with this, let's move to the ride cymbal and the bass drum. One, two, three, four. Notice the only time the bass drum is not playing with the ride cymbal is when the bass drum plays on the and of three.
