Swing Beats on Bass & Snare Drums: Variation 1

PETER VAN DYCK: Okay, let's take a look at playing the bass drum on the end of one as well as on beat three over the ride cymbal pattern. One, two, three, four. Okay, let's slow this down a bit and break it apart to get the coordination happening. Take a look at the ride cymbal in the bass drum and how they line up. The first stroke of the bass drum on the end of one is not played with the ride cymbal but when we play the bass drum on beat three, it does line up with the third beat of the ride cymbal. One, two, three, four.
