This is Kevin Winsley at Offshore Sailing School for Expert Village. The key to any maneuver in sailing is communication and preparation. The helms person in preparation for the tack glances at 90 degrees to the current course, make sure they keep the power on the boat, give the command of preparation, ready about, the crew transfers into the center of the boat and nice steady turn and not too aggressive on the helm come up to your new course and there we go, the jib trimmer can now look up the leech of the jib, the trailing edge just to tighten up, make sure they got the trim correct and then transfer their weight across the boat and of course ending up back on the rail helping to keep the boat upright and fully powered up.
