Requirements on How to Build a Fence

Hi! I'm Mark Sullivan for Expert Village and today we will show you how to build a privacy fence around your yard. The first step in building your fence is to check all zoning requirements, any height restrictions, any set back requirements on your property. If you are a renter, you definitely need to check with the landlord first about building any kind of fences. But you will need to contact your city zoning board and their zoning and possibly hire a surveyor to come out. The surveyor will survey your lot and they will find the pins which are located at the corners of your lot. Many times they will have a little flag around them. It is a big pin that is driven into the ground really deep at the corners of the lot. That will designate the meets and the bounds of your property line and there will be one of these pins at every corner of your lot.
