Yoga Triangle Pose

So you start by taking one foot, pointing forward and stepping the back foot back a comfortable big step so not wide as you can step by wide enough so that if you’re still stable, turning your back foot in about thirty degrees and then if you have a block handy at home you can place a block to the inside of your front foot. And then allowing the hips to turn forward if they need to, it’s very important to keep this front knee facing forward so the hips will turn as much as they need to to allow the front knee to keep facing the same direction as the toes on the front foot. And then you can turn the upper body open, from above the waist, inhaling, reaching the arms out, exhaling, extending the upper body forward over the front leg, and then when you’ve gone as far forward as you can placing the right hand or your bottom hand down on the block or on your leg, and the upper hand reaches toward the ceiling, fingers spread wide and you can either look down, towards your big toe or you can look out to the horizon, or if it’s comfortable for your neck you can look up at the ceiling. Keeping your legs very strong it’s always a possibility here to bend your front knee if that is too tough for your hamstring to keep the legs straight. And when you’re ready to come out of triangle pose, press into the feet; reach up so you’re pulling yourself up through your top arm, arms come parallel to the floor and then release.
