Roommate in Chinese we can say tong wu or she you. Tong it means share and wu refers to the apartment or the room. So tong wu is share the apartment. This is the literal meaning. She you. She, actually it comes from the word su she. Su she means dorm. That is your dorm mate, she you, this is the literal meaning of this word, and now we use she you to refer to roommate. Ok tong wu, she you, both are for roommate.
