How to Analyze Chords in an D Major Song

So, again as we go through and read through our tune in D major. We're going to have a lot of chords we're going to play in our left hand and I'll explain to you how we reference them. Like if you search for E minor on Expert Village. E minor will actually come up on the piano if you search E minor piano. It will come up on jazz bass as well and some other things, but you want to search E minor piano. Same with C major and you could search for my first fake book and that will run through a lot of the basic chords for D major too if you search for my first fake book in D major. But, really what we're doing today is just really focusing on this melody line. By really taking this melody line and tearing it apart we'll see how it's all put together and then it's just a matter of practicing. Reading through different tunes and applying the different chord changes and really getting all these chord changes so they're like second nature. It really helps pull everything together. So, as we go through the melody lines today you can slowly go and reference. But, again we're just really focusing on our melodic lines.
