EMIL LAMPRECHT: In this clip, we're going to talk about outside throws. Now, this is another trick in which the club is no longer going to be like it normally would pointing outward, but actually pointing out to your side as opposed to forward. Now, the reason for this is that to throw it outside over a pattern, it needs to have that sideways arc, either as a single or as a double. Now, the double will be harder to catch but much easier to throw when actually being used in pattern. The single, because it's limited, you may find--will lead to collisions. I suggest practicing both outside of pattern and with one club before trying to do it in pattern. Once you have that down, you can move to doing one at a time in pattern, either as a single or as a double. This is a single. As you can see, it's much lower than it would a double, which gives you much more time. Do it on both sides. And then, if you're very advantageous, you can start doing more than one, leading to a constant pattern. That's doubles, singles--oops. If done correctly, singles should hopefully look like this. It's a very difficult thing to maintain, but it can create interesting effects if you just want the one. Doing other tricks, if you suddenly throw an outside throw, or even use it as your timing for a thumb spin or a flare, it just makes the whole thing more dynamic and visually interesting. That's outside throws.
