How to Do a Flair in Juggling

EMIL LAMPRECHT: And now I'm going to introduce you to a trick called the 'flair'. I'm going to break it down with one club first. Now, a flair is just that. And when done in pattern, it's pretty impressive. It's different than most tricks in a lot of ways. First of all, to start it, you are catching the club the wrong way around. As the club comes towards you, instead of waiting for it to finish its spin, you're going to reach out and snatch it as the handle is coming around. From that point, you're going to swing outward, in between your first two fingers and down. And that's it. Gonna swing up, out, and down. Now, it's very hard for me to articulate in words how to do this, so I'm going to show it a bunch of times, at different speeds, and you can just practice it on your own. You want to be able to do this in both hands as the trick is usually only interesting for an elongated period of time when doing various combinations using both sides. That's a flair.
