Long Arm Bar in Koden Kan Martial Arts
Hello! I’m Madison Warner and I’ve been instructing for over 10 years in Michael M. Foley system of Koden Kan Karate, if you’d like to go to our website please do its h2hctc.com or my website is mellei.com. Today we’re going to learn the long arm bar okay and this is easier to show with a person. They’re going to come in and choke and this time you’re going to bring your hand to their cross hand, into their opposite hand and you’re going to take your thumb and put it in the webbing of the hand, so what I’m doing is grabbing like this…and then I’m going to wrap my fingers around the rest of the hand okay and you’re going to step back, again cause that straightens out the elbow and you’re going to grab the elbow with your fingers on the outside, if they’re still holding on with this hand you’re going to use the elbow to knock that off so that when you pivot your feet and push down on the elbow, then it works properly. We’re also going to do it from this side to show you, now that you know what to do with your hand up here you can see what the rest of it looks like, so this is the long bar arm bar, grab then step cause you saw what happen if you do it out of order you’re in trouble. So you’re thumbing the webbing of the hand, your fingers wrapped around the hand, then you’re going to grab the elbow, knock this one off and what we’re doing here is rotating the elbow as you bring the hand to your waist level and what we’re doing here is pushing down at this point and at this point you’re pushing toward the person, okay I’m pushing this way with this hand and from there again you can do whatever sort of follow up you think necessary, alright that was the long arm bar.
