I'm Sylva Kelegian with Expert Village and I'm going to show you the collars and the tags I use when I, collars and choke chains rather I use when I rescue animals. This is Lulu and Lizzy, they were dumped in a gas station and found by somebody who called the owner, they did have collars and tags on, the owner said they didn't want them anymore and they dumped them there. Basically they bred them as guard dogs, they're not guard dogs, they're the sweetest girls in the world and so they're here waiting for their forever safe loving home together because they're very bonded. First thing we do and first thing we did when we picked these girls up, we put collars and tags on. That way, if anything happened, they got out, we've got them tagged. We also microchipped them immediately. The other thing is, because you don't know a dog when you pick the dog up, we always walk them on the choke chain which is right here with the leash. If you connect the leash to the collar, very often what happens is the dog will get scared and back up in the collar no matter how tight it is to begin with, can come right over their head. Lots of people have lost their dogs that way, especially dogs that are just rescued from the shelter and are very discombobulated, don't know what's going on, they get out and they run. So very important, whether you know your dog, whether you don't know your dog, it's really important to walk your dog on a choke chain or a harness or a prong collar which I don't have with me right now. But I would never suggest walking your dog, unless it's a very old dog that walks about two miles an hour and you know he's not going to go anywhere, even if that collar comes off, I would suggest using a choke. You can get one like this or a nylon choke or a prong collar which is like a mama's bite, it kind of goes into their skin and you give them a little click like this and it puts them right in line and they can't get out of them. But walking them on something like this can come right over their head and out and then they're out and gone. We wouldn't want that to happen to them or any other dogs. These are two of the most beautiful sweet girls we've ever rescued and they're going to get a home together because they're very very bonded so that's what we're hoping is going to happen soon for them. So make sure you keep your dogs safe and walk them either on a harness or a choke chain or prong collar and not on the collar. Thanks.
