Reasons to Buy a "Rescue" Pet

Hi, I'm Sylva Kelegian with Expert Village and I'm here with Simone Luncher from Pet Mania and we're going to be talking about the importance of adopting dogs versus getting from puppy mills and Simone will tell you about puppy mills and why it's important not to buy from pet stores because the pet stores get their animals from puppy mills. Yes, I think no right breeder in their mind would actually sell to pet stores because pet stores don't usually ask questions as long as you pay the money for the dog. If they do tell you that they're AKC registered, it doesn't mean anything anyhow because you can register anything as long as you send a check to the AKC. Puppy mills are breeding factories which are really horrible horrible facilities where animals are being bred almost to death. They most likely live in small cages outside. Females are being bred three four times a year and they have like freezing water, maggots in their food and it's just horrible conditions just to make a profit off the poor animals. And that's why we suggest adopting a dog rather than getting one from a pet store and also when pet stores sell animals and sell dogs they don't ask any questions about where that animal is going, they don't try and find out anything about it so please adopt from a shelter or a rescue group.
