Wire Placement for Ceiling Fan Installation

Hi I'm Mark Sullivan for Expert Village. Today we are going to learn how to install a ceiling fan in your home. A handy tip is when you are putting your wire through the down rod, it is pretty nice to have all 3 of them over on one side of this pin. So that while you are screwing in this down post, it does not twist up your wires so badly. So we are now going to go ahead and screw the down post onto the top of the motor housing. So we are just going to screw this in. Kind of wiggling it so it would start nicely. Can you see that okay. So we are screwing this in. I'm going to set this down and I'm going to pay some attention to our wires up here so they are not twisting. You see that so we don't want to get our wires all twisted up while we are tightening this down rod. So I'm going to continue to tighten this by hand while holding the wires so they will not get all twisted up. I'm going to screw this down rod in all the way.
