Hot to Install Blade to Motor for a Ceiling Fan

Hi I'm Mark Sullivan for Expert Village. Today we are going to learn how to install a ceiling fan in your home. Now we have taken off the small packing devices that they use to just stabilize the motor in packing. Then we look at the motor and you would see there is 2 holes at each of these. This is where the fan mounting arm goes onto there like that. So we are going to go ahead and put the screws into the fan arm. So the fan blade arm would be attached into those holes like that. So I'm going to go ahead and put that into the little hole. Then put the Philip screwdriver into there and then we would screw this into the hole being careful to not to get cross threaded. Then once again, we are not going to tighten it up. Because we are still going to need to move this around for the other one. So we get another screw and another split lock washer and we are going to put in the next screw. Now if you are worried about holding/dropping your screw into the fan, two things we can do, one you can hold it like this to begin with. The second thing is you can tip the fan so that it is a little bit easier to put it in. So you would see how I just put that screw in like that while holding it with my finger. Then you can start that screw without dropping it. Now you are really want to be careful without cross threading it. So turn the screw backwards at first until the threads start lining up. Then you can screw it in properly. So we are going to go ahead and snug these up. Then once you get them both pretty snug and they feel like they are on straight and everything feels good, go ahead and tighten these screws down to approximately 15 pounds of torch. So you are going to tighten these up pretty good cause you do not want these coming off ever. Going back and forth okay that is pretty tight. So we now have 1 fan blade installed so simply repeat that for every fan blade.
