Prep for Ceiling Fan Installation

Hi I'm Mark Sullivan for Expert Village. Today we are going to learn how to install a ceiling fan in your home. Now that we have successfully removed our existing old light fixture, we are ready to open up our box and with our new ceiling fan it in it. This is a white 30 inch fan. First thing we do is we are going to open it up and check all of our parts to make sure that it is not missing any pieces. So here is our instructions. We want to keep these and actually do read these. You should keep these for ever. This gives you basically your safety instructions, comply with electrical codes; it says do not use this fan with any solid speed control. That means if that if in the wall you have a speed controller, do not utilize that for this application. It must be mounted with a minimum of 7 feet clearance between the fan blades and the floor so that nobody will run in to the fan. So here we have our instructions; we would comply with these instructions.
