Questions & AnswersHi! this is Brian Carter on behalf of Expertvillage.com. I have 10 years of tile experience. Today I am going to show you just some of the different cuts that we have made already and explain what they’ll be used for. We have got a straight cut that we made earlier and that can be cut obviously on anything, any wall, any situation where you need to make the tile smaller than what it originally was, usually a 6 x 6, 8 x 8, 12 x 12, 16 x 16, larger or smaller. There are all different kinds of sizes, so obviously we need to cut tile, and so that’s what we have done tonight. That’s the straight cut, okay, the next thing I showed was the angle cut and we can make decorative pieces by doing that. We showed earlier we can set this up with little water on that one, set this out to make decorations you can do on the floor, you can do it on back splashes, in your bathroom all kinds of things. It is a great way, easy inexpensive way to make your tile installation just gorgeous. We also have right angle cut, that’s where you cut in here and here. We use that a lot around cabinets, walls, in many different applications where you would have to have this kind of cut and now we will go on from there. We have the three-sided cut; we have to come through here down this side and up here. This application would be for outlets or for around door jams different things like that. A very common cut; we showed two different ways to do that. Okay, the next cut we have was an interior circular cut. This is very common you could use this on anything that’s circular, anything in your architecture that is circular such as lighting fixtures, outlets and different things such as that, okay. Next we showed the exterior circular cut; this is mostly decorative but sometimes you have walls or cabinets or situations where you need to make that kind of cut. A beautiful cut; looks much more difficult to do and it is actually one of the easier cuts.

I just bought a tile cutter because I want to tile my bathroom vanity and my kitchen counters and island. I've never used a wet saw and Brian's demonstrations were very informative and he made it look less complicated and difficult than I thought it might be. I am a woman who likes to do home projects, so this Web site will be very helpful. He should give anyone the confidence they need to use a tile saw!
